I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY.

It's amazing how one day out of the year can have an effect on people.

Today, February 14, 2009 I found myself sad and feeling sorry for myself.

All because I didn't get an "I love you" call. I didn't get any card or candy.

Hell, I didn't get an "I love you" text.

AND THAT'S WHEN IT HIT ME LIKE A SLAP IN THE FACE.

There is not a man on this planet that LOVES me.

And don't say the obvious like....oh what about your dad, what about your granddad....DUH, I know they love me.

And DUH, I know Jesus loves me.

But....

There is not a man on this planet that is IN LOVE with me and there NEVER has been.

In all my 21 years, there has not been a single man in my life that has thought enough of me to even buy me a card for Valentine's Day.

And that is what drove me to cry (make that bawl) on the floor of my bedroom closet for a good.....Ohhhh 10 or 15 minutes.

And I do mean bawl, it was one of those "nasty, snot dripping, loud wimpering, hard to breathe" cries.

I can't remember the last time I cried that hard....

I wish I could say I was kidding, and insert an "LOL" in there but I'm not.

I hate this holiday for making me feel like something's wrong with me and making me realize that maybe I'm just not worth anyone's time.

AND THAT IS WHY I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY.

25 random things.....

I posted this on facebook, so I figure I should post it on here too.......

25 random things about me! Read it! Comment it! Write one and tag me to yours too! :)

1. I’m a nerd. I love to read and write and I can do both very quickly. I read Harry Potter in one day, no lie. I think that’s also why I love blogging. (http://www.daniellecanada.wordpress.com/)

2. The first story I ever wrote was called “Too Fat Mr. Dinosaur”. I think I was in the 1st or second grade and it ended up being published in the Marietta Daily Journal. One of my proudest accomplishments, I’m kind of a big deal. LOL

3. My sister is my best friend. No offense to my other bestie, VB I love you girl! But Jenn and I just get each other, she’s the one person in the world I feel the most comfortable with.

4. I love cats. Anyone who knows me knows this. I don’t care if you don’t, I don’t care if you think they’re gross, they’re great. I have two, and I’ll have more later. I also think it’s ignorant of people to be so against an animal they’ve had no experience with, hence people who hate cats.

5. I’m a people pleaser. I let people walk all over me because I like to make other people happy. I’m notorious for putting my feelings to the side just to make someone else happy. HORRIBLE HABIT.

6. I love mirrors. Not because I’m conceited and I love looking at myself but if I see something shiny, I have to look in it and look at my reflection. I have a mirror in my bedroom on my closet door and it distracts me from doing my work because sometimes I sit and stare at myself in it. Weird, I know.

7. I talk to myself on a daily basis sometimes out loud and usually in the third person, like “Get it together Danielle”. So if you see me walking down the street and my lips are moving, then yes I am talking to myself. Weird, I know.

8. I think braces are sexy. When I was younger I wanted braces so bad just because I thought they looked cute. I think guys with braces are super sexy, IDK why…I just do. LOL

9. Speaking of guys, football players are amazing to me. I am VERY attracted to big, tall men…and I mean tall like 6’5, 6’4 even though I’m only 5’3. There’s something about a big GIANT man that is crazyyy sexy to me.

10. I’ve never had a boyfriend. I’ve never even come close to having a relationship. Not because I don’t want one, but just because I haven’t and no one wants to date me. I’m serious. I can count on two fingers the number of dates I’ve been on.

11. I’m scared I won’t get married and I’ll wind up a lonely cat woman. Seriously if I can’t even get a boo, how am I gonna get a husband?

12. I loveeee going out with my friends. I love music, I love to dance. I love to have fun.

13. I HATE being at home on a Friday or Saturday night. It literally makes me feel ill on the inside and puts me in a HORRIBLE mood.

14. I wake up early every day unless I’m just really tired. 8 am is the usual time for me, and I dislike late sleepers because I think they’re wasting their day away.

15. I want to write a book. I don’t know about what, but before I die I want to be an author.

16. I was shot on September 8th, 2007. I think all of you already know that but what you don’t know is how much that experience changed my life. That was the scariest moment of my life and NOONE can understand the magnitude of that experience except for ERIN HARRISON and JONTE WOODBURY and NOONE has room to judge or speculate about that experience except for ERIN HARRISON and JONTE WOODBURY, PERIOD. I LOVE BOTH OF Y'ALL BTW! :)

17. Being shot kind of gave me the “kick in the ass” that I needed. After that my grades were the best they’d ever been and I lost 45 pounds. *Don't congratulate me yet, I'm not done.

18. I believe I’m still here for a reason, I just don’t know what. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M GOING TO DO AFTER GRADUATION.

19. I love my name, Danielle Chelsie Canada, because I think it’s cool.

20. I am super CLUMSY. I slip on something at least three times a week and I have fallen flat on my back countless times in my life. I am a clutz and it's embarassing as hell.

21. When I was little I beat up a boy. I kicked him in the nuts and when he was doubled over in pain I went around behind him and kicked him in the ass, he fell over on the ground and I ran because I was scared I was going to get in trouble. (He’s my friend on facebook so I won’t call him out! Lol)

22. When I get really angry I like to break things or rip things like t-shirts. When I’m really mad I want to get a baseball bat and smash something.

23. I hate URBAN WEAR…and I mean that. Baby Phat, Enyce, Rocawear, Akademiks, etc…HORRIBLE. I think these clothes typecast people into a stereotype. A man wearing Akademiks will not get the same treatment as a man wearing a polo. I understand that some people don’t know any better but I wish they did.

24. I am NOT too picky with men. I wish people would quit saying that about me. I have STANDARDS, I’m sorry. If I can’t see myself taking you home to my parents, then I would rather not deal with you and I do not respond to cat calls, “HEY GIRL…”, “DAMN SHAWTY…”. That shit is rude, sorry. You will get the “stink eye” quick for that.

25. I love money and I love to spend it. I suck at saving and if I get money it burns a hole in my pocket, thus leading me to spend it on frivolous crap I don’t need like more makeup, or a cute bag.

Living Life So Lavishly....

Soo, I got some love from none other than the very dope Kei {Kei Opens Doors} of Lavish Life Social Club for my "favorites" post. If you missed it, go back to my previous posts and read it. {NOW!}
Thanks for the love Kei! If you haven't already...check out the Lavish Life Social Club blog!

Sooo I'm not really that into underground music but there are some artists that spark my interest. One of those is a 20 year old rapper out of Atlanta by the name of Mums Fp. Wise beyond his years, Mum "For Profit" is originally from Pittsburgh but now considers Atlanta his home. His northern roots might explain why he's missing the trademark southern accent you may find yourself looking for. Nonetheless, accent or not, the man is talented. Lyrically, he takes a break from the lyrics stereotypical of modern hip hop and instead raps on topics ranging from clothing, to life and even love. His standout songs include "Levi Denim", "Song Go" and my personal favorite "Perfect Suspect".

I particularly like this line from "Perfect Suspect":
"One day I figured this would end in holy matrimony.......this chick she's my homie but......she don't realize that I love her........and........I know that I'm the other man.....but we fit like a rubberband......"

Nice.

Listen to the full song here: Perfect Suspect by Mums FP
....and u can check out Mums FP on myspace at MYSPACE.COM/MUMSFP

So with that being said, check out his mixtape "24",

download it for free here.

{Standout Tracks}- "The Situation" featuring London and "Wherever You Are" featuring Kamall <<who sounds alot like a more soulful version of Trey Songz.

Don't miss "Six in the Morning" featuring Grip Plyaz and Siyah, two other Lavish Life social club artisits and Mum's current single "The Anthem"

My favorite list

These are just a few of the blogs that I check out on a daily basis. I highly suggest you do the same.
1.) Lateboots.com- I can't even lie, I'm addicted to this blog. Headed by the very cool, very chic, Marquis Phifer of Morehouse college and the mysterious one name woman that is "Sham". Lateboots gives insight into the latest fashion, latest music and latest happenings. The two writers divulge into their narcissistic side posting pictures of themselves looking one might say, like celebrities. Reading their blog almost makes you feel like you're reading into the lives of celebrities but are they really celebs or are they just like us? Except much, much more stylish...I wonder. Nonetheless, I love this blog. It's a very well put together fashion/ lifestyle blog. Lateboots!

2.) wordsfrom.wordpress.com I admire this blog for several reasons. I think it's refreshing to see what's really going on in people's heads. "Wordsfrom" is a blog with various posters. The requirements are simple, email your "words" to wordsfrom@gmail.com with an attached picture of yourself preferrably in black and white. I find it very interesting to just sit and read what people think about. The subjects vary far and wide. Some people are happy, some people are angry, some people just need someone to talk to. "Wordsfrom" is a great read, it lets you feel like there are people out there that think just like or not like you at all. Words From

3.) Lavishlifesocialclub.com I'm late to this blog. Before this summer I had never heard of it before. Lavish Life is a blog mainly about music. Mainly about underground music in Atlanta. The posters on this blog give off a feeling of "free spirit" "free thought". Their motto, or mantra is "guided by loyalty" "governed by faith" and you see that theme throughout the blog. The main writer "Kei" finishes each post with the clever catch phrase "Kei Opens Doors". She very well may do that indeed. Kei manages local Atlanta artists like Mums FP, Grip Pliyaz and Siyah. While you may not have heard of them, and their names sound more like superheroes than artists, there are thousands who have...their following in the eclectic and stylish world that is "neo-hip hop atlanta " LOVES them. I witnessed that firsthand at one of their performances. Lavish Life is filled with posts of these artists and other frequenters of the scene like Hollyweerd that are striving to infiltrate an Atlanta clouded with bubble-gum ringtone rap back to the smooth, different, sometimes even "weerd" sound that seems to be dwindling away. The members of this Lavish Life give off an aura that reminds you of those "cool kids" that had their own seperate lunch table in high school, the kind of kids everyone wanted to be like, dress like, look like....Governed by loyalty, guided by faith....Lavish Life.

4.) Theybf.com The "Young, Black and Fabulous" is a site about just that. It's a site that gives people a taste into the celebrity world of the ybf. Frequented on the site are posts about Rihanna, Beyonce, Christina Milian and other celebrities. It's mainly just good old fashioned gossip but I can especially appreciate the posts on style or new music. theybf.com

5.)
thumbsupconsulting.blogspot.com Maybe I'm jaded because the writer is a good friend of mine but TUC is a blog by 21 year old, Nick Reynolds of Atlanta, Georgia. Reynolds is relatable. His blog isn't over crowded with pictures of celebs, instead its minimal. Reynolds finds things he likes or finds "dope" in his words and posts them giving them a "thumbs up" much like the late Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert. Furthermore Reynolds provides downloads to albums, new music from artists you may have never heard of but probably should, various youtube videos, pictures and playlists all the while writing in all caps giving you the sense he's excited like a child on Christmas morning. Not only does he write for TUC, but Reynolds is a now a contributing writer to lavish life social club as well. Reynold's blog is a genuine mix of commercial and underground blended easily onto a space that celebrates them both easily and with simplicity. If you're looking to find out about a new artist or watch an interview with one of your favorites, check out TUC.....Thumbs up indeed.......

Beyonce "Halo"

not sure if i care for the video...but the song is lovely.
